Wild or Bear's Garlic

Allium ursinum

It is a pity that this lovely spring  blossom is not particularly favoured in gardens because of its pungent smell.

It snow-flakes the woodlands and fens of our Park  in Spring and disappears in Summer.  The bright and shiny green leaves start to appear in March and the flowers bloom from mid April to mid May. 

The plant reaches a maximum height of 45 cm.

The blossoms attract butterflies and caterpillars.

It  is representative of the Parco di Monza’s Spring look.
